Sea-Loving Women Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Republic by Sailing

The crew of the Tutkumm boat, sea-loving women, set off on a new and meaningful adventure. The experienced team is sailing on two separate routes starting from Bodrum on May 19, 2023, the 100th anniversary of our Republic, covering the Aegean Sea, the Marmara Sea and the western part of the Black Sea.
As a Turkish flagged boat with a female skipper and female crew, Tutkumm, a first in the Adriatic ports, is once again leaving themselves to the blue waters to send messages of peace to the world and Turkey. The team of experienced women sailors, who sailed 2,100 nautical miles at 55 different points in a 70-day sailing in 2017, 1400 nautical miles at 23 different points in a 44-day sailing in 2018, and a 70-day sailing from Bodrum to Hopa for the 100th anniversary of May 19 in 2019, is sailing on 2 different routes this year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic. Founded by Neşe Hasipek and Ceyda Güleçyüz, the Tutkumm team will sail a total of 1400 nautical miles on the 100th Anniversary Republic Cruise. The first stage of the voyage will cover the Aegean - Marmara - Black Sea route, while the second stage will start on August 18 and will cover the Mediterranean and Cyprus. The Tutkumm team will be in Cyprus on August 30, Victory Day.
The experienced team was welcomed by Setur Marinas employees in Kuşadası, Çeşme, Yalova and Kalamış on this voyage, in which they alternately included two young girls from 66 female students who participated in their project called "Tutkum Youth" launched in 2018. With the slogan "Sailing for Peace", the experienced sailors, who want to show the power and productivity of women at sea, aim to support the creative and strong stance of women with this challenging sailing. Setur Marinas will continue to support the Tutkumm team by hosting them at the stops along their precious voyage.
