Setur Marinas has opened Demre Marina, which completes its chain of marinas in the Mediterranean Region and will give new momentum to the region's economy and tourism.
Setur Marinas completed the marina project, which it will operate for 23 years, under Demre Marina İşletmeciliği A.Ş., established as an equal partnership with Makyol İnşaat, one of Turkey's most experienced companies in the field. The opening of Demre Marina was attended by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, Koç Holding and Makyol senior management, and numerous guests.
Özgür Burak Akkol: “We are bringing a marina with very high service quality to the region.”
Özgür Burak Akkol, President of Koç Holding Tourism, Food, and Retail Group, said in his speech at the ceremony, "Our goal here is not only to develop yachting, but also to contribute to Demre. With environmentally friendly modern architecture, using the latest technologies, and with Turkey's most professional staff, we are bringing a marina with very high service quality to the region that will attract both domestic and foreign tourists. We believe that marinas should be beneficial to nature. This is one of our top priorities. We have adapted certain systems here that are not found in most marinas. With our technical and administrative teams, a wide range of people from Setur Marinas, Koç Holding, and Makyol Construction have contributed to this project. I sincerely thank them all. I wish it all the best."
Emre Doruk: “We will offer a unique marina experience with innovative, nature-friendly, and smart solutions.”
Setur Marinas General Manager Emre Doruk, who stated that the region will become a year-round tourism, trade, and social life center thanks to its geographical advantage, advanced infrastructure, and attractive accommodation options, made the following assessment:
Demre Marina, which marks the beginning of a new era in Kekova, is a multi-faceted investment that takes our vision at Setur Marinas one step further and will bring dynamism to regional tourism. This strategic investment will inject long-term vitality into the local economy, while Makyol Construction's superior engineering expertise will set an example in the industry for sustainability and quality standards. We are delighted to be building the Mediterranean's shining new star with Makyol and adding another link to our Setur Marinas chain. With our Demre marina, which completes our service network on the Mediterranean coast, we aim to provide our guests with flawless comfort and high-standard service along the coastline stretching from Kaş to Antalya. Demre Marina is also one of the finest examples of Setur Marinas' quality and sustainability-focused approach. We will offer our guests a unique marina experience with innovative, eco-friendly, and smart solutions."
Makyol Construction Tourism Investments General Coordinator Serdar Alp Turan, who stated that Demre Marina, the second phase of the Setur Marinas and Makyol project partnership following Kaş, will bring new life to the region with high yachting potential, said the following in his assessment of the project:
Demre Marina was designed to add value not only to yacht owners but to the entire region. Thanks to our project, Demre and its surroundings will gain year-round tourism potential. The region, with its unspoiled nature, proximity to the historic Lycian Way, and beautiful bays in the Kekova area, is an alternative center for yacht owners looking for new locations. Yacht tourism, as a sector that can be spread over 12 months, will respond to yacht owners' needs for winter storage, maintenance, and long-term accommodation, bringing vitality to the region even in the winter months. Furthermore, the long-term stay of foreign-flagged vessels in Turkey will generate direct foreign exchange income, making a significant contribution to regional development and the national economy. This will increase both direct and indirect employment. At Makyol, we are proud to once again implement a sustainable and environmentally friendly investment in this region, following Kaş Marina. We believe that Demre Marina, realized through the experience of Setur Marinas and the construction expertise of Makyol, will quickly become the shining new star of the Mediterranean Region."
Its location, capacity, and social amenities will make it a popular destination.
Demre Marina, with a capacity of 400 boats and 300 land-based parking spaces, also stands out for its attractive pricing policy and modern dry dock facilities. The 24,000-square-meter modern dry dock area features a 160-ton travel lift and maintenance workshops.
Demre Marina is not only for yacht owners; it is also a potential destination for day visitors, offering yacht club events, restaurants, social facilities, and fairs. The marina also features a gas station. Additionally, the marina, which is easily accessible thanks to the connecting road built to the area and a parking capacity for 169 vehicles, aims to become the new choice for yacht owners looking for affordable prices.
